Rising Star Lavender Farm

I’m sorry I have been late with my March blog. So much is happening. So I decided to combine March and April and get everyone caught up!! So officially, as of April 3rd I will be retired and entering the next chapter of my life and will be full time at RSLF.  I have been busy finishing up the last of my commitments with my Biotech company. It’s been a fantastic career. For the last 20 years I’ve been blessed to work with incredibly talented, smart and selfless Rheumatologists. It’s been a privilege. Also, my industry is filled with caring, compassionate sales people who go above and beyond everyday to make patients lives better. I am proud to call these people my friends. So now, onto my next chapter.

I’ll be heading to RSLF in April. There is much to do and it looks like we are having an early spring in Hayden so I can get a jump start on all. So this year I’m excited to say that I am going to chronicle the opening of the Farm for all to see. The Lavender look fantastic. It’s truly an amazing plant and can withstand all the weather Northern Idaho can muster. First things first. The Lavender beds need to be cleaned out and I have another area of Lavender to plant. Of course, I keep buying more roses so now I’ve got  20 more David Austin climbing roses to plant. It is madness but for all of us gardeners we just think of ourselves as delightfully unhinged!!  I love the combination of roses with Lavender and so do my neighbor’s bees who visit all summer!!!The NW Wildflower seeds need to be placed in various key places on the farm to attract our pollinators and help feed our migratory bird populations. I also experimented with a Living Wall. My first placement was getting way to much sun. I think I have a better spot picked out for this year. So lots of clearing out beds and planting. So this is what Spring brings to me- endless possibilities. Don’t forget to come see my progress at our RSLF open house and picnic on June 27th. Details on my website. Special tours can be arranged. Call me to discuss. Always remember, All Good Things Start with Lavender.
