Lavender: From My Kitchen to Yours
From My Kitchen to Yours
It’s no secret that I love to cook and entertain. I always have. Over the years, I’ve learned that having a few reliable recipes on hand makes hosting effortless—whether it’s a quiet evening or a full table at Rising Star Lavender Farm.
One recipe I return to again and again is this Lavender Vinaigrette. It’s a true staple in my house because of how versatile it is. Toss it with fresh greens, drizzle it over roasted vegetables, or use it as a simple marinade—it never disappoints.
And then there’s Lavender Tea. I married an Englishman, so a proper cup of tea has naturally become part of my daily ritual. This blend is packed with flavor and goodness, calming and comforting in the best way. It’s one of those recipes that feels like a small act of self-care every time you make it.
Remember—all good things start with lavender.
With love,

French-Inspired Lavender Vinaigrette
This elegant vinaigrette draws inspiration from the lavender fields of Provence, France. It blends delicate floral notes with classic French elements like Dijon mustard and garlic to create a beautifully balanced dressing.
Perfect for mixed greens, roasted vegetables, or even as a marinade for grilled chicken, this recipe is adapted from a floral variation using Herbes de Provence-infused oil and lavender balsamic vinegar. For a more traditional French twist, freeze-dried or fresh shallots can be added for subtle depth.

Makes about ¾ cup (enough for 4–6 salads)
Ingredients
½ cup extra virgin olive oil
(or Herbes de Provence-infused olive oil for extra French flair)
¼ cup lavender balsamic vinegar
(or white balsamic infused with 1 tsp dried culinary lavender buds; steep 30 minutes)
1 clove garlic, minced
2 tsp Dijon mustard (coarse grain for texture)
½ tsp sea salt
¼ tsp freshly cracked black pepper
Optional: 1 tsp freeze-dried shallots or minced fresh shallot
Optional: ½ tsp dried thyme or lemon peel for added herbal depth
Preparation
In a small bowl or jar, combine the garlic, Dijon mustard, sea salt, black pepper, and any optional shallots or herbs. Whisk to blend.
Slowly add the lavender balsamic vinegar while whisking continuously.
Gradually drizzle in the olive oil, whisking vigorously until the dressing emulsifies and thickens. If using a jar, seal and shake well.
Let the vinaigrette rest for 15–30 minutes at room temperature (or a few hours in the refrigerator) to allow the lavender flavors to fully meld. Shake well before using.

Preparation & Serving
Mix: Combine all ingredients in an airtight jar and gently shake to blend.

Serve: Strain and enjoy plain or with honey. Serve iced in summer, add milk for a latte-style tea, or use as a cocktail base with vodka or gin. We call this version the Summer Fun Martini.
